Who Are We?

The Coalition to Defend Education (CoDE) is a Washington State non-profit corporation created to represent a diverse group of parents and community members in the Snoqualmie Valley School District (SVSD) in Western Washington state. Our members represent a broad range of ages and social, economic, religious, education, and racial backgrounds.

What unites us is alarm at the extent to which the personal political and social opinions of teachers and staff are being expressed in our schools, especially at Mount Si High School. We believe that students have a fundamental right to form and express their own opinions on political, social, and moral issues without being influenced by the personal opinions of their teachers or administrators.

Our goal is to restore neutrality to the classroom and school with an atmosphere free from bias and prejudice. This is not a question of agreeing or disagreeing with any political or social opinions. We want to remove ALL bias being introduced by school employees so that students can get the balanced education they deserve. All students should feel safe in expressing their own opinions without fear of reprisal from their teacher or administrator.

The Coalition to Defend Education is made of local volunteers who decided to stand up and stop the indoctrination of our children.
