What Can I Do as a Parent or Community Member?

There are many things you can do to help remove bias from Snoqualmie Valley schools.  If you are a student, click here for ideas.

Support the Coalition

Step one - add your name as a CoDE supporter. This takes two minutes and costs nothing. Supporters can stay informed by joining our email list.

Support the Coalition

Get your spouse or partner and older children to support the Coalition

Both you and your spouse or partner should support the Coalition, so that both of you are represented when we work with district and school administration. Please complete separate registrations for each of you. Also, your older children can support CoDE as students if they are concerned about their day-to-day school environment.

Spread the news to your friends and neighbors

Many people don't know what is happening in our schools, but they are outraged when they find out!

Many parents of high school students hear about big events, such as the Martin Luther King Day assembly, but never hear how teachers' personal opinions are influencing classroom discussions. Most parents of elementary school children hear nothing about events at the middle and high school level.

Invite your friends and neighbors to join the Coalition

Help your friends get connected. There is no need for them to sit and be frustrated!

Voice your opinion to the administration

Send email to the school board, superintendant, and school administration. We have collected all of the email addresses that you need.

Tell Administrators What You Think

Talk to your children

What are your children experiencing at school? Make sure that they know you are interested in what happens during their school day. Find out when controversial subjects come up at school so you can talk with them about your values and opinions. If you have high school students, read the MSHS policy on Teaching Controversial Subjects so that they know their rights and know what teachers should and shouldn't do.

Put a link to the CoDE web site on your blog or web site

If you have a blog, MySpace, FaceBook, or other personal web site, please put a link to the Coalition web site on your site.  Click here to get a copy of the CoDE logo. Here is suggested wording for your site:
