Watching: MSHS Task Force on Teaching Controversial Issues

Following the problems with the Martin Luther King Day assembly at Mount Si High School, Principal Taylor formed a task force of parents, teachers, and administrators to evaluate the SVSD policy 2331 on teaching controversial issues. According to Mr. Taylor, the outcome of the task force will be a presentation for all MSHS staff on the policy, scheduled for early May.

CoDE applauds the school district and Mr. Taylor for responding to the complaints of many parents about teachers at MSHS who project their personal opinion as fact into classroom and library.

It's unfortunate that the reputation of MSHS and the Snoqualmie Valley School District have been damaged by a small number of educators who refuse to abide by district policy and uphold professional standards of behavior. CoDE expects the school district and MSHS to enforce this policy and looks forward to an unbiased learning environment in our children's schools.
